Promote your Quest title with the .quest domain name!
App Lab makes downloading apps and games easier, but discovery still has some friction by design. Luckily, there are different ways to find and install new content.
Search from Store and install
Users can search for the exact app name in the Oculus Store, but typing long or complex names in VR is slow and may discourage potential users. Also, app thumbnails only show after selection, slowing discovery.
Direct link on mobile
If users are logged into their Oculus/Facebook account on both mobile and headset, they can use the “Free” button on the Store page via the Oculus mobile app to quickly install the app. The Quest will then suggest the app in the library for installation.
Direct link in the Quest
Another way is to enter the Store URL in the Oculus browser, but Oculus URLs are long and unclear (e.g. https://www.oculus.com/experiences/quest/3070868589682594/), making them hard to type in VR.
Treat your URL as UI & UX: get your .quest domain!
As Scott Hanselman says, “URLs are UI.” URLs should be short, clear, and easy to share. The new .quest domain makes it obvious your app is on Quest.
We registered minsar.quest to make it simple for users to type in their VR or mobile browser, easy to share via email, messages, or Instagram bios. Even Facebook has done it—so why not you? 😉
